New cheap highly-accurate saliva test will tell you at home in just 10 minutes if you have cancer
The £15 'liquid biopsy' test looks for fragments of DNA in a drop of saliva Early results from lung cancer patients suggests 'near-perfect' accuracy Test currently on trial in China and could be available in UK within decade Saliva test far less intrusive and quicker than blood tests or biopsies
Interesting. I would be too freaked out to try this probably though.
I would almost rather get a doctor's diagnoses and recommendation, if I did have to get bad results, instead of winging it on my own for the results. The doctors would probably want to run all the tests again anyway.
I suppose if you were waiting for results and didn't want to wait, this would be an easy answer though.
I wouldn't rely on doing it at home, but I think it would be good for doctors to adopt it as a tool for the future. It will probably be ten years before it's in widespread use.
