I once had a similar experience on a trip to Birmingham, England. We had all passed through the boarding gate and were lined up in a sort of slip-way leading onto the runway. There was some delay and a child, up on the main floor, could be heard screaming on a continuous basis. His parents were with him, but there was no stopping him. We must have stood there for about 15/20 minutes, while the howling continued. Of course everybody probably was thinking, I hope he's not getting on our plane - I certainly was thinking that. Well, you've guessed it! The child, with his parents boarded that plane with everybody else. They sat down within a couple of rows from me. Above the noise of the screaming, an announcement came over the air. "We apologize for the presence of a someone, who has a severe nut allergy.!" (Words to that effect!"). End of!
Well, thinking back on that, that's probably why the plane was delayed - while every effort was being made to get the child over the allergy. It couldn't be helped and everybody just put up with it.
