Doctors Just Completed the First-Ever Uterus Transplant in the United States
A 26-year-old woman underwent the first-ever uterus transplant in the United States on Wednesday, February 24, at Cleveland Clinic. The woman was in stable condition on Thursday following nine hours of surgery the previous day, according to a statement from Cleveland Clinic.
The transplant is temporary, according to a November 2015 article about the procedure. The uterus is removed after the woman has one or two babies.
