It is an extraordinary find, @pingin. I was just remarking to a friend that the representation of that beheading is so graphic, I wouldn't be surprised if Caravaggio actually witnessed a beheading in RL. So little was known in those days about anatomy and that looks so real. Caravaggio was a strange individual, by all accounts.
I recognized the name, naturally but I'm not familiar w/ his artwork. Sometimes great genius goes w/ a slightly off-beat personality. Agree?
Sure, @pingin! A few years ago there was a Caravaggio found in Dublin in a Jesuit Monastery. It had been hanging on a wall in their dining room for years, without ever being recognized for what it was.
Interesting! It's funny they reference 'Dan Brown', I've read everything he's written & like him a lot. I can understand that Caravaggio is a great artist but I don't find that I'm drawn to it. What is your opinion?
