DUBLIN, Ireland – Several communities in Dublin’s north inner city have reportedly decided to come together to fight against the city’s growing crime rate and drug abuse. According to reports, members of the Inner City Organisation Network have come to a consensus to hold a peace procession with messages like ‘community solidarity’ and appeal to end violence.
I just saw a documentary about the particular area, one street in particular. It's as bad re crime and drug dealing as you would get anywhere in the world. The guys making the documentary were attacked twice as they walked in the street. Their camera was disabled and they had to use mobile phones. Nevertheless, there is a lot of support ploughed into the area to help regenerate it and there are good people there acting as mentors for the youth. I think this processions will produce a lot of good.
