Was busy today. First I had an Active Retired meeting. then I had some messages to do re laundry and grocery shopping. Next had to collect my new cat, Suzie. She is a large five-year old tabby with white paws. Quite a strong-looking cat. She is very nervous and has done a lot of growling, snarling, hissing and spitting since she came here. She has actually jumped up on my lap and eaten the food I left out for her and used the cat litter. She's hiding now, I don't know exactly where. I think she is feeling nervous at not recognizing where she is and will settle down over a couple of days.
This is not a shelter, @deyana , though I had intended approaching my local shelter. It is my local vet, who had put Minnie to sleep. He now has a cat named Susie, who he is offering to me. I'm to go in on Monday to see her.
Arh... okay, I see what you mean now.
We sometimes forget that vets have animals that are looking for homes too.

I just saw your post here, whisker. I'm sure she will settle down soon. Good luck with all. Exciting having a new cat for sure!
So far Suzie displays a lot of "mental issues". She fight with herself, if you can imagine that. Three times, she has jumped up on my lap, which is progress, but I have to be careful not to make a sudden movement of my hand or I will get bitten. Then she jumps off growling, snarling, screeching - you name it!
I'm not sure what the arrangement is with the vet. He was not there when I picked Suzie up. This morning I was most surprised to receive a letter of sympathy written by him re my previous cat, Minnie, having to be put to sleep. He talked about us being a "team" that had cared for Minnie. True! Maybe he sees us as a Team now that are looking after Suzie. He is to get in touch with me and, hopefully, I will get some more insight as to what is going on.
